An integral element of natural wine is that the drinker has a connection with where the wine comes from, the story behind it and with the winemaker. This connection is perhaps never more keenly felt than when drinking Fabio’s wine, from his unique bottling to his iconic back label he seems to bottle something of himself in each of his wines.

This particular cuvée, produced from the widely grown but little known grape Airen is no different. On the nose, there’s dried orange peel, walnuts, something earthy like fresh raindrops on hot stones and quince. On the palate there’s the acidity of freshly squeezed orange juice, the tannins tingle on the tongue and the fruit expression reminds me of Orangina, which in turn reminds me of holidays, which makes for a very nice drinking experience.
